Pierre Governor head boys basketball coach Terry Becker was named the Region 3 Coach of the Year by the South Dakota Coaches Association. Becker was honored after leading the Governors to their first State Basketball Tournament title in 31 years.
The 108th running of the South Dakota State Track will start today and continue Saturday, preliminary action taking place today in Brandon for Class AA, Lennox for Class A, and Sioux Falls for Class B. All classes will head to Howard Wood Field for Saturday's State Finals. Be sure to tune in for State Track updates on KCCR and Country 95.3FM.

The Oahe Speedway will start their first night of their memorial day weekend races. Street Leagal Test and Tune will be tonight. The Speedway will also hold our first Street Legal Races of the season on Friday evening, starting at 6:30 pm and running til dusk.
 
Saturday's racing action will feature Shootouts in Box, No Box, Tropty and Junior Dragster classes. Racing action begins at 1pm with Qualifying and Eliminations at 5pm.
 
Sunday and Monday will kick off the 2013 Coca Cola / Contingency Connection points Series. Qualifying will begin at 9 am, with final Eliminations scheduled to begin at 1 pm both days. All Oahe Speedway classes will be contested, Super Pro, Pro, Bike, Sportsman, Street Trophy, High School and Junior Major and Minor. Winners in all categories, excluding the Junior classes, will be awarded Contingency Connection packets.
The Dunes Golf Course will be holding Junior Golf Sessions for golfers the ages 8-12 this summer.
 
Registration has started, and classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays in June from 9 a.m. to noon. The classes feature instruction on golf etiquette, stance, swing, proper club usage and more.
 
Golfers will use all areas of the golf course; driving range, putting green and also actual play time on the course. If there is enough interest a second session will be held in July.
