Stanley County Takes Winner to the Limit
The Stanley County Buffaloes have opened the conference schedule with an overtime thriller. Top ranked Winner rolled into Fort Pierre Friday night and got all they could handle narrowly escaping with a win. Stanley County’s senior quarterback Josh Rogers put on a show on the ground and threw the air. Rogers connected with Austin Lapour for a 52 yard touchdown strike one of two Lapour touchdowns in the first half. Trailing by two late in the fourth quarter and facing a fourth and 22 from the Winner 23; Rogers and Lapour hooked up again for a twenty two yard gain setting up first and goal from the one yard line. Rogers snuck it in two plays later then converted the important two point conversion to go up 20-14 with two minutes remaining. Winner came right back and tied the game at 20 with twenty seconds left. A point after touchdown wins it for Winner, but Stanley County was called off-sides so what would have been the game winning kick, had to be kicked again and this time it was blocked and Stanley County forced overtime.
