When you tune into 1240, you get a “full service” radio station with everything you need to know. KCCR has the most in-depth local news coverage in central South Dakota with news, sports and weather. Tune in with us for the latest local news on weather alerts, school closings, election updates, fire locations and road construction updates as well as school menus, fundraisers, morning trivia and birthdays. We’ve always been known for our thorough local coverage and that tradition continues today.
You also get the personal touch of live radio. You get wit, wisdom and fun of live announcers throughout the day, featuring music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. D.T. Meyer, who has become the station’s most popular announcer since Fred Smith, helps get people started with their day. News Director, Tony Mangan, brings you the latest in news and weather throughout the day. Connor Shreve broadcasts the sports and carries listeners through the mid afternoon. Saturday mornings are spent with Kelly Thompson.
Also featured on our station is Tradio. Listeners can place items they want to sell (under $500) or merchandise they are looking for. Items range from windows to wedding dresses and household appliances to exercise equipment.
Throughout the day, there are special programs like “Ask the Mayor” every 2nd and 4th Thursday, the Pierre Chamber of Commerce report every Wednesday morning and other special programs designed to keep people fully informed on late-breaking news, weather, sports and events.

WeatherEye meteorologists give quick, local weather updates twice an hour. The upbeat tempo of the format encourages listeners to participate in various promotions throughout the year.
