Post 8 To Honor Paul Marso
Thursday, April 20, 2017
Pierre Post 8 baseball will honor Paul Marso as its Hometown Hero at the annual roast beef fundraiser on Thursday, April 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 at the American Legion Cabin in Pierre.
Paul, a Pierre native, grew up playing sandlot baseball and watching Basin League baseball games. He was a member of the state championship Teener team that won the regional tournament and travelled to Hershey, Pennsylvania to play in the national tournament.
In addition to playing baseball for Post 8, Paul coached for the program during college, when he returned to Pierre to work for the Health Department, and when his son was a younger baseball player. He served on the Post 8 Baseball Board for 7 years and continues to volunteer at Post 8’s pancake feeds.
Paul recently retired after working for 28 years with Avera St. Mary’s where he was the Vice President of Support Services and the Human Resource Officer. He plans to spend retirement driving veterans as a VA volunteer, fishing, guiding, doing promotional sports shows for the Chamber, and watching Post 8 baseball.
