Post 8 Splits Weekend Series With Minot

The Post 8 baseball team had a weekend series with Minot North Dakota. Saturday was going to be a double header before mother nature came in and delayed the game to just a one nine inning game.

Saturdays game would be a back and forth game as Minot got out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Post 8 would answer right back with two runs of their own. Pierre would have a lead going into the top of the eighth when Minot would score three runs to take the lead. Post 8 would answer back tying the game 9-9 going into the 10th. Post 8 would get a one, two, three inning going into the bottom of the 10th. Landon Badger would get walked and steal two bases to get into scoring position. When Spencer Sarringar got a game winning base hit that drove in Badger to win 10-9.

Austin Hoss got the win for Post 8 he went two and a third innings, allowed one run, two hits and struck out five. Alex Schimke from Minot went five innings, gave up seven runs, eighth hits and struck out two.

Game two of the weekend was yesterday afternoon as Post 8 and Minot played in a high scoring affair. Minot was able to win yesterday 20-15 snapping Pierre’s five game winning streak.

Post 8 did score 10 runs in the bottom of second inning and had an 11-6 lead but Minot would battle back and take the lead for good in the eighth. Kyle Stover started the game for Post 8 he went two and a third innings, allowed 11 runs, 10 hits and struck out one. Broden Wunderlich started the game for Minot he went one inning, allowed nine runs and six hits. Michael Lusk game in for middle relief and went four and two thirds innings, surrendered four runs, six hits and struck out two.

Post 8 had 16 hits in the game as Connor Gerber, Sarringar, Brad Dean, Garrett Stout, Badger and Austin Hoss all had multiple hits. Minot had 21 total hits in the game.

Post 8 goes to 13-7 on the season and will be back in action tonight at home against Bismarck. The game will start at 7 pm and will be a one nine inning game. You’ll be able to hear tonight’s game right here on Today’s KCCR.
