Friday, February 17, 2017

A two vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Harrison and Capitol in Pierre Thursday afternoon.

According to Pierre Police Captain Derald Gross, officers were dispatched to the accident just before 3:30 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2003 black GMC Sonoma, which was being driven by a juvenile female was attempting to turn north off of Capitol onto Harrison and was struck by a 1996 white GEO Prizm being driven by a juvenile female traveling west bound on Capitol.

Gross says damage to the black Sonoma was estimated at $2,000 and damage to the Prizm was estimated at $3,500. A 16 year old juvenile male passenger in the white Prizm received what appeared to be minor injuries and was transported to Avera St. Mary’s by Ambulance. The driver of the black Sonoma was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way.

Gross adds that all three juveniles involved were Pierre residents.
