Crash Vehicle Set Up Outside Riggs
Thursday, April 20, 2017
Just in time for this weekend’s Pierre Riggs High School prom – a reminder about being safe drivers is now sitting outside the school.
South Dakota’s Office of Highway Safety has placed a vehicle that was involved in a crash at Riggs as a way to encourage students to be safe when driving – to wear their seatbelts, slow down, don’t drink and drive and don’t get distracted.
The vehicle has been placed at several sites in the state this month as a reminder to young drivers.
Once again this year, the Office of Highway Safety is also holding its “Lesson Learned” youth safe driving project. Young people are encouraged to watch videos highlighting the need to be safe drivers and then register for the $10,000 prize. The winner also will receive a second $10,000 that they can give to a school club or program of their choice.
More information on “Lesson Learned” can be found at http://lessonlearnedsd.com/student.
