PACA Avera Athletes of the Week

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Congratulations to Caleb Lusk and the Lady Gov’s Dance Team for being chosen as PACA-Avera’s Athletes of the Week!

Caleb Lusk - This past weekend Caleb placed 25th at the State "AA" Cross Country Championships in Huron.  This earned him class "AA" All-State Honors, which is the top 25 runners in the "AA" division. Caleb has been working on achieving this goal ever since last cross country season.  Caleb put in over 450+ miles this summer which gave him the needed endurance to achieve this goal.  In this race there were 114 runners so Caleb beat a total of 89 runners in the "AA" division.

Lady Gov’s Dance Team:  With a team that has no individual stats, it can be hard to single out any athlete for their specific accomplishments. As a team, the Lady Gov's Dance Team has much to be proud of. The girls were able to place in several competitions throughout the season. With many girls who have never danced competitively before, the team was able to grow and outscore other more experienced teams. The girls finished 5th in the ESD, outscoring Mitchell, Brookings, and Aberdeen. At the state competition, the team was able to increase their scores across the board. With a score of 238 in Hip Hop, the team took 6th place. This is a huge accomplishment since they outscored O’Gorman who typically finishes ahead of them. The team was also able to finish 8th in kick, 8th in pom and take home 10th place overall. Congratulations to the Lady Gov’s Dance Team!
